Today was great! Well it had it's ups and downs. I went to comp study and elder reed was still in his bed and so he didn't get his personal study done that morning. It bugs me because that effects the entire companionship. I might wait a few days and if it becomes a habit then I'll talk to him about it. I came home and tried to work out but I just wasn't feeling it...at all. So I had an hour and a half of personal study! I need to study more so I can retain the information.
We had made all of these plans on what we needed to teach the people and decided that we needed to stick to that. We planned to teach Joan the third lesson and wanted to make sure we would stay no longer than 45 minutes. As we began to teach we read together and talked about things and somehow the question of "what we could do to help her out most?" came up. She told us that all she needed was to see us and talk with us. Then she basically said that when she sees us she finally thinks that "maybe it isn't so bad staying alive." I felt prompted to read d&c 121:7-9 it talks about overcoming hard times and to rely on those around you for support. When I read this I just began to cry. It broke my heart that she was going through such hard times in her life and we had no idea. For the rest of the lesson I couldn't stop crying because I felt so much pain for her and what she's going through. I felt SO guilty that here I was worried about checking off the boxes of the lesson just so we could check the box for teaching that day. I didn't even think to listen to the Spirit, didn't even cross my mind. I felt so selfish that all I was there to do was for self growth and not caring about others progression. After I read that scripture the Spirit was SO strong. Even though I couldn't even talk because I was holding back the sobs. We made it back home and I just sobbed; I couldn't hold it in. I felt so guilty and so stupid.
I got over it and we had prolly the best dinner I have ever been in. It was with the Bagwells and I can honestly say that I have never felt more comfortable in a members home... ever. After dinner we went to visit Jose and Ronica. It was awesome because she was the one that brought up the need to come to church and that she needed to read the scriptures. It's really hard to teach because elder reed cares way too much about the little things and it totally drives the Spirit away because then there is contention and he gets super bummed. I most often take over the role of senior companion because elder reed won't step up to the plate and take the lead. Sometimes he won't say anything when we go into homes from tracting. I love the kid to death and am gunna toally room with him in college. I won't let his attitude bring me down because I am so blessed to be out here and want to live up every moment it get. I'm blessed to be able to focus on missionary work and not on the other things of the world. Oh, I forgot we met with the Sandovals and Wade is a total stuborn piece. He won't let Donna get baptized and he doesn't really have a good reason. Their mariage isn't doing amazing and Donna is affraid that it will just cause more problems. So I totally called out Wade and was hecka bold using find out questions. He just dances around the questions. I am blessed with, well with being both stuborn and patient with him. I'm just sad to see the blessings they are missing out on. I think that's the messege for today...receiving blessings by living the gospel.
